When nylon yarn was in hot demand, the price of nylon yarn kept rising. Last year, the highest price reached 19,500 yuan/ton (taking POY as an example), which was nearly 6,000 yuan/ton different from last year’s lowest price. Of course, last year’s crude oil price was not that high. , it’s just because last year, affected by the impact of nylon fabrics, the price of nylon yarn rose sharply.
Demand has fallen, but costs have gone up.
The price of nylon yarn has been stable since the beginning of this year. There has been no big rise or fall. It has basically remained between 17,000 yuan and 19,000 yuan. The increase has not changed much. The current price is 18,350 yuan/ton (taking POY as an example). Obviously, the popularity of nylon spinning this year is not as high as last year. The reason why the price of nylon yarn remains at a high level is due to the high cost.
Pure benzene, which is the upstream of caprolactam, has been affected by the correction in oil prices and its price has fallen recently. As of last Friday’s close, the price fell by 650 yuan/ton in a week. The price at the beginning of the year was around 8,000 yuan/ton, and the current price is 9,650 yuan/ton. Before that, the price of pure benzene basically kept rising in a straight line, rising by nearly 2,000 yuan/ton compared to the same period last year.
It is precisely because of the impact of cost that the price of nylon raw materials has remained at a high level this year. Although the demand for nylon yarn this year is not as good as last year, the price of nylon yarn is less than 1,000 yuan/ton compared to last year’s peak, so the price has dropped. , it is only slightly lowered.
The biggest difference is that there were still people buying it when the price was the highest last year, but no one is buying it this year despite the price drop. So demand is really important.
Hot sales don’t mean real demand
As mentioned in the last article, the current cost price of 380 nylon silk is 3.5 yuan/meter, but now the lowest price in the market is 2.8 yuan/meter. The cost is higher than the selling price. What kind of “evil trend” is this?
At present, the price of gray fabrics produced from the high price of nylon raw materials cannot be suppressed again and again. It is impossible for textile bosses to sell fresh fabrics at a loss. Although the cost was high last year, some of them were also products of low cost. They sold the inventory and disposed of it at a loss. Some stock textile bosses can accept it.
And all of this is still “attributable” to last year’s Nice spinning boom. It can be said that Nice spinning was really popular last year, but how much is the real demand? Nowadays, millions of meters of inventory in warehouses are disposed of at low prices and they are losing money. Continuing to stockpile goods not only takes up space but also puts a strain on funds. Assuming that last year’s nylon silk fabrics were not so “hot” and the inventory was not so large, then naturally buyers will have fewer of these outrageous price reduction requests this year.
In short, the prices of raw materials except spandex are basically rising this year. The impact on the cost side has caused even the price to fall only slightly. It is difficult to increase the demand for fabrics and the cost is high. 2022 is destined to be a year where there is no profit.
