Polyester, commonly known as “Chenliang” in China, has a wide range of uses and is widely used in the manufacture of clothing fabrics and industrial products. Polyester has excellent shaping properties. The flat, fluffy or pleated shapes produced by polyester yarn or fabric after shaping can still remain unchanged after being washed many times during use.

Polyester is also called triclon, and Americans also call it “dacron”. When it appeared on the Hong Kong market, people translated it as “Chen Liang” or “Chen Liang” according to Cantonese [Liang, Liang is the same pronunciation in Cantonese], which roughly translates to the well-known name “Chen Liang”. It is the simplest process among the three major synthetic fibers and the price is relatively cheap. In addition, it is strong and durable, has good elasticity, is not easily deformed, is corrosion-resistant, insulating, crisp, easy to wash and quick-drying, etc., and is loved by people.

Polyester features:

1 High strength

Short fiber strength is 2.6~5.7cN/dtex, high Strong fiber is 5.6~ 8.0cN/dtex. Due to its low hygroscopicity, its wet strength is basically the same as its dry strength. The impact resistance is 4 times higher than nylon and 20 times higher than viscose fiber.

2 Flexible

The elasticity is close to that of wool. When stretched by 5% to 6%, it can almost completely recover. The wrinkle resistance is better than other fibers, that is, the fabric does not wrinkle and has good dimensional stability. The elastic modulus is 22~141cN/dtex, which is 2~3 times higher than nylon. .Polyester fabric has high strength and elastic recovery ability, so it is durable, wrinkle-resistant and does not need to be ironed.

3 Heat resistance

Polyester is made through the melt spinning method. The formed fiber can be heated and melted again, and it is a thermoplastic fiber. The melting point of polyester is relatively high, but the specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity are small, so the heat resistance and insulation of polyester fiber are higher. It is the best among synthetic fibers.

4 Good thermoplasticity, poor solvent resistance

Due to the smooth surface of polyester and the tight arrangement of internal molecules, polyester is the most heat-resistant fabric among synthetic fabrics. It is thermoplastic and can be made into pleated skirts with long-lasting pleats. At the same time, polyester fabric has poor melt resistance and can easily form holes when exposed to soot, sparks, etc. Therefore, you should try to avoid contact with cigarette butts, sparks, etc. when wearing it.

5 Good wear resistance

The wear resistance is second only to nylon, which has the best wear resistance, and is better than other natural fibers and synthetic fibers.

6Good light resistance

Lightfastness is second only to acrylic. Polyester fabrics have better light resistance. In addition to being worse than acrylic fibers, their light resistance is better than natural fiber fabrics. Especially the light fastness behind glass is very good, almost as good as acrylic.

7corrosion-resistant

Resistant to bleach, oxidants, hydrocarbons, ketones categories, petroleum products and inorganic acids. Resistant to dilute alkali and not afraid of mold, but hot alkali can cause it to decompose. It also has strong acid and alkali resistance and UV resistance

8Poor stainability

But the color fastness is good and not easy to fade. Because there are no specific dyeing groups on the polyester molecular chain and the polarity is small, it is difficult to dye, the dyeability is poor, and the dye molecules cannot easily enter the fiber.

9 Poor hygroscopicity

It feels stuffy when worn, and at the same time It is prone to static electricity and dust, which affects the appearance and comfort. However, it is easy to dry after washing, has almost no loss of wet strength, does not deform, and has good washability and wearability.

Summary: Fabrics woven from ordinary polyester filaments have the advantages of good strength, smoothness and crispness, easy washing and quick drying, etc. for clothing. However, they have hard hand feel, poor touch, soft luster, breathability, and moisture absorption. Compared with silk fabrics, the gap is even greater. Therefore, the silk thread structure must first be simulated to eliminate the shortcomings of poor wearing performance.
