On June 2, the Agricultural Industry Development Center of Huoshan County, Anhui Province held a special meeting on sericulture work in 2022 to study the current situation of sericulture development in townships and existing problems in the sericulture industry, and discuss how to develop the sericulture industry, large-scale sericulture bases and modern sericulture. There were exchanges and discussions on the construction of demonstration gardens and improving and strengthening the sericulture industry in Huoshan.
The meeting believed that it is necessary to scientifically plan, pay attention to scientific and technological support, and seek new ideas for the development of the sericulture industry; it is necessary to provide more services to mulberry farmers and promote the development of the sericulture industry as a key point to help rural revitalization and promote farmers’ prosperity. We must work hard and carefully to achieve results and promote the sustained, steady and healthy development of Huoshan’s cocoon and silk industry.
It is understood that in the first half of this year, the County Agricultural Industry Development Center will increase the breeding and introduction of new varieties of fine mulberry and silkworms, and vigorously popularize practical technologies such as co-breeding of small silkworms, labor-saving sericulture, and automated silkworm raising. , went deep into the fields to provide technical guidance on spring mulberry garden management, pest and disease control, etc., actively carried out project preparation work, and provided one-on-one follow-up services to the new professional farmer training trainees. Up to now, the county’s mulberry gardens cover an area of 38,000 acres, raising 13,304 boxes of silkworm seeds, and producing 100 tons of white factory silk and 60 tons of silk floss. In the first half of the year, 2.515 million mulberry seedlings were distributed, 2,550 acres of high-quality mulberry gardens were built, 5,200 square meters of sericulture greenhouses were built, and 12 major sericulture households were cultivated.
