Recently, the Beijing Consumer Association conducted a comparative test on some functional textile products such as quick-drying clothing, sun protection clothing and hats, and sun protection ice sleeves. According to the Beijing Consumers Association, the samples for this comparative test were purchased from an e-commerce platform, involving 80 samples from 71 brands. The comparison samples are mainly divided into two categories, 40 moisture-absorbing and quick-drying products and 40 sunscreen products.
After testing, in terms of product identification, 13 out of 80 samples had problems with product identification, involving OUKQQO, VVC, Adidas, Reebok, Playboy and other brand samples.
In terms of pH value, the pH value item of the sample named VVC Double-sided Bucket Hat (Youth Edition) Mint Green does not meet the national mandatory standards.
In terms of moisture absorption and quick-drying properties, 13 samples had poor moisture absorption and quick-drying properties, including NAUTICA, Champion, Levi’s, PUMA, Ralph Lauren, OUKQQO, CALVIN KLEIN, Hongxing Erke, Peak and other brand samples. Among these samples that did not meet the standards, the hangtag did not indicate the moisture absorption and quick-drying function, 11 samples claimed to have this function in the webpage promotion, and 2 samples claimed to have this function in both the hangtag and the webpage promotion.
In terms of UV protection and sun protection, among the 40 sunscreen samples, the hangtags did not indicate the sunscreen function, and 14 samples were advertised on the webpage as having this function. Five samples failed to meet the UV protection performance standards or nominal requirements, involving samples from AUM, adidas, Keep, Sunday Afternoon and other brands.
In addition, a sample of children’s sportswear claimed to be “Decatlon Children’s Tights Sports Fitness Wear Elastic Training Wear Quick-Drying Running Base Set” was purchased from Pinduoduo (Taiyi Travel and Camping Products Store), Beijing. The samples actually received by the Consumers Association were labeled as “YIPAI” brand, and the advertised moisture absorption and quick-drying properties did not meet the relevant standards. It was confirmed by Decathlon Brand Management Company (Dimai (Shanghai) Enterprise Management Co., Ltd.) that the sample was not its product and was suspected of false publicity and defrauding consumers.
Beijing Consumers Association reminds that product labels that do not indicate UV protection cannot be used in sun protection scenarios. When purchasing sun protection products, pay attention to whether the hangtags are marked with clear sun protection parameters and related standards; pay attention to check the products The instructions for use are complete and the labels are accurate and standardized; moisture-absorbing and quick-drying products are divided into two categories: quick-drying and moisture-absorbing and quick-drying.
