1: Horizontal method. The horizontal method, also known as the tablet method, is used for floor coverings where the sample is placed horizontally. It mainly measures the burning rate of flame-retardant cloth in the horizontal direction under specified conditions, that is, the reactivity of the material or combination to flame. The humidity-adjusted flame-retardant cloth is placed on the bottom of the test chamber, pressed against the metal cabinet with four sides aligned with the sample, and the tablet is ignited to start timing. When the ignited flame begins to burn until it is extinguished. Measure the damaged area and calculate the flame spread time. Two: Vertical method. Place the fabric vertically, ignite the fire underneath the fabric, and test the burning time, spreading speed, carbonization area, etc. of the fabric. It is suitable for flame-retardant coated fabrics.
Currently, there are many international testing methods and standards for the flame retardant performance of textile Oxford cloth, and each country has different testing methods and standards for different fabrics. Some organizations in some countries also have their own Testing methods and standards, ISO and some international joint organizations such as aviation, shipping, etc. also have their own standards and methods. The differences are mainly in the size of the sample, pre-treatment and humidity conditioning conditions, ignition source and location, flame height, ignition time and other methods.
