PU coating and PVC coating are collectively called artificial leather.
PU coating is a polyurethane coating. The coated fabric feels fuller, more elastic, and has a filmy feel on the surface. PU coated fabrics are mainly used in outdoor clothing and military materials. The main characteristics of the fabrics are good moisture permeability, relatively wear-resistant, windproof, good softness, wear-resistant, solvent-resistant and low-temperature resistant (-30℃ the following).
PU coated cloth can be divided into water-based and solvent-based polyurethane coatings based on the form of coating. Solvent-based polyurethane coatings have good film-forming properties, strong adhesion to fabrics, and high water pressure resistance, making them more suitable for waterproof and moisture-permeable coatings. However, solvent-based polyurethane coatings have certain toxicity and flammability, and are not environmentally friendly. In contrast, water-based polyurethane coatings are safe, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly, but have poorer adhesion to fabrics and are resistant to water pressure. Performance is also weaker than solvent-based.
