Foreign investors and large-scale cotton importing companies have turned their focus to quotations and sales of SJV PIMA cotton for shipping dates from August to December. However, the number of resources on the shelves is significantly lower than that of the same period in 2018/19 and 2019/20. The spot long-staple cotton is all “fixed price”.
According to traders’ quotations, the December shipping date of SJV PIMA 21-2 46/48 on August 19-20 is quoted at 218-220 cents/pound, and the shipping date is August-September. The SJV PIMA 21-2 48/50 is quoted at 214-215 cents/pound (both 2020/21 long-staple cotton), while the September to October shipping schedules are Egypt GM 1 1/4, 1 9/32, 1 5 /16 (strong 39-42GPT) quotations are concentrated at 196-198 cents/pound.
Cotton spinning companies in Jiangsu, Shandong and other places said that due to the tight supply of long-staple cotton at home and abroad, the price discounts for long-staple cotton from international cotton merchants and import companies are generally relatively low. Even if the customs clearance is within the 1% tariff quota (the price difference between the customs clearance and the sliding tax quota is not big), the cost of receiving SJV PIMA cotton from traders for the August-September shipping date will reach 34,000-34,400 yuan/ton (net weight settlement), accept It is more difficult to digest.
The “fixed price” by weight of Xinjiang grade 3136/3137 (fracture specific strength 40-42cN/tex) in Henan, Jiangsu, Shandong and other inland areas is concentrated at 27,450-29,000 yuan/ton (Due to the small supply of goods, traders’ reluctance to sell and the inclusion of impurities, and different warehouses, the quotation price difference is relatively large). Although it is significantly lower than SJV PIMA cotton, purchasing companies believe that the colors of Xinjiang cotton long-staple cotton in 2020/21 are 31 and 41. Mainly, the impurity content is high and the breaking strength is poor. It is difficult to spin 80S and above cotton yarn with cotton. Therefore, high-count carded/combed export orders still need to purchase SJV PIMA cotton or Egyptian Giza 88, Giza 90 production.
