At 14:00 on August 21, the ethylene glycol unit of the Guangxi Huayi Industrial Gas Island Project (hereinafter referred to as the “Guangxi Huayi Ethylene Glycol Unit”), which was contracted by Donghua Technology EPC, was successfully started up in one go and successfully produced qualified products. The production of ethylene glycol products marks that the device has entered normal operation, laying a solid foundation for opening up the entire production process of the Guangxi Huayi Industrial Gas Island project and its full commissioning.
The construction of Guangxi Huayi ethylene glycol plant lasted 30 months. On June 12 this year, the intermediate handover of the plant was completed and it officially entered the start-up stage. In order to ensure the success of the first-time start-up of the project, the project leader and key professional personnel stayed on the front line of the project and actively coordinated and cooperated with related work. After two months of preparation for start-up, from instrument joint adjustment, catalyst filling, pipeline purging to equipment integrity inspection, system testing and on-site inspection and evaluation by industry experts, the project team brainstormed and worked together to overcome many difficulties and finally achieved a good harvest. The remarkable achievement of smooth start-up of the device was achieved:
On August 6, the NO (nitric oxide) generation system was put into use, and the device was officially put into operation;
On August 10, the carbonylation system successfully added oxygen once, and refined DMO (dimethyl oxalate) was produced that day;
On August 11, EG (ethylene glycol) synthesis was put into production and crude ethylene glycol was successfully produced;
On August 21, the device produced qualified ethylene glycol products.
It is reported that the Guangxi Huayi ethylene glycol plant is the first industrial transformation of the owner’s newly developed self-owned technology. Its products can provide polyester-grade ethylene glycol for PetroChina’s Guangxi petrochemical polyester industry. Diol, and used in conjunction with PTA (purified terephthalic acid) to produce high value-added PET (polyester) products. This project is very consistent with the PetroChina industrial chain in the park and is of great significance for realizing the integration of the circular economy in the park, driving the surrounding supporting productive and daily service markets, promoting the rapid growth of the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, and accelerating the realization of the goal of a 100-billion petrochemical industrial park. </p
